A Adult LearningWe run various courses throughout the year. First Aid and Basic Food Hygiene courses are also available which are very popular. A 1-1 service is also available regarding Adult Learning progression After School Care Our Choppington Centre offers After School Care for children aged 2 to 12 years from 3.15 to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday.

B BiBs Breastfeeding Support GroupSupport group for expecting mums thinking of breastfeeding or for mums who are already breastfeeding. Peer Supporters are on hand to offer support and answer questions. Baby Clinic In partnership with our health colleagues, the Baby Drop-in Clinic is held at our Morpeth Centre. For further information, contact Gas House Lane Surgery on 01670 500132. Baby Massage This is a 4 week course suitable for babies aged 6 weeks. Baby Massage has many benefits including relief from colic and constipation. It provides an opportunity to spend quality time bonding with your baby. Booking on this course is necessary. Baby PEEP Suitable for babies under 1 year old. Messy play, musical instruments, songs, rhymes, books and toys. Baby Save a Life An essential course for parents and carers of small children up to 2 years old. Burns & Scalds (Accident Prevention) Learn about the dangers of everyday household appliances and how to prevent your child suffering injuries and pain.

C Childminder Drop-In SessionsChildminding Co-ordinators are available on certain days for advice. Computer Access We have 2 computers for the public to access at our Bedlington Centre. The computers can be booked out on an hourly basis. Creative Crafts Lots of fun to be had making things and getting messy. Suitable for all ages. Crèche Many of our courses and activities are supported by crèche provision. Bookable in advance. See course and activity organisers for details. Choking and Toy Safety (Accident Prevention) A course designed to make parents and carers aware of the dangers of toys and choking hazards. C-Card Young adults under 25 can call into any of our centres to pick up free condoms and Chlamydia test kits.

D Dad's Group / Saturday Drop In SessionsAll dads and male carers are welcome to come along and have fun with your children and take part in activities, crafts and songs. Regular trips are held throughout the year too. Dummy Parties Parties are held throughout the year to encourage young children to give up their dummies.

E Early StartAn 8 week course developed to help parents and carers and their children to enjoy communicating together, lots of experience on how to make inexpensive and fun activities. Includes a trip to soft play.

F Family LearningFirst Aid and Basic Food Hygiene courses are also available which are very popular and booking is recommended. Family Support The Family Support Team offer home visits to support parents in a number of different ways; daily routines, sleep routines, mealtimes, help with understanding behaviour. Supporting parents to help build their self confidence and relationship with their children. First Aid Courses First Aid Courses are run throughout the year at all of our centres. Food Chain North East We work alongside the Food Chain North East to offer parents the opportunity to purchase good quality fruit and vegetables at reasonable prices. Holiday Activities Our Family Support and Outreach Workers regularly run various events and activities during the school holidays for children up to 5 years. Holiday Club Holiday Club runs from our Choppington Centre during the school holidays between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm for children aged 3 to 12 years.

I Information Advice & Guidance SessionsOur Information Advisors give advice and information on a wide range of services including benefits and tax credits, Grants (i.e Sure Start Maternity, Social Fund, Crisis Loans), employment and training and childcare. Sessions are held at all of our centres and at Abbeyfield's First School, Morpeth.

J JobCentre Plus linksOur Information Advisors have links to JobCentre plus to help parents and carers access employment and training. Jolly Mixtures Lots of toys, lots of fun, stories and healthy eating. These sessions are a great opportunity to make new friends. M Mellow ParentingA 16 week therapeutic group supporting parents whose relationships with their children are under severe stress. The group will help parents find their own solutions to family problems. This course is run in conjunction with Parenting Initiatives. Multi-Sensory Room Based at our Bedlington Centre, parents and professionals can use the room if they have children with additional needs. The room offers a variety of multi-sensory equipment, i.e ultra violet glow curtain, fibre optic curtain, a bubble lamp, a projector and other tactile games and toys. The room can be booked out on an hourly basis. Munchkins In partnership with our parent group committees, Munchkins is a community run toddler group for children aged 6 months to 3 years and is run from our Morpeth Centre. Families can play together, arts and crafts and messy play. Music and Movement A fun and interactive service using music to encourage physical development and coordination.

P Parental Involvement / GroupsWe encourage parental participation in all four of our centres. Across the programme, we have many parent group committees adding value to our services. Parentcraft Parentcraft classes are run by the community midwives and health visitors and include sessions on normal / abnormal labour, breastfeeding workshop and a session with a physiotherapist. The classes are aimed at expecting mothers who are between 28-32 weeks pregnant and their partners. Classes are held at our Bedlington and Morpeth centres. P.E.A.C.H Parents Equally Achieving Children's Happiness. P.E.A.C.H are a parent led charity. PEEP PEEP sessions are for children aged 0-4 years where parents and children play and learn together; messy play, musical instruments, songs, rhymes, books and toys. Playgroup Choppington and Pegswood Centres provide a Playgroup for children aged 2 to 3 ½ years. Choppington sessions are Monday to Friday 1.00 to 3.00 pm and Pegswood sessions are available on Thursday and Friday, 1.00 to 3.00 pm. Play Vans We have 2 play vans that our outreach service use to take activities into the community. This is a valuable resource to use in our rural communities. The vans have DVD players, toys and equipment on board. Pre-Booking Clinic Run by the community midwives at our Morpeth and Bedlington Centre, this is an information session for pregnant ladies to attend to obtain information on their pregnancy before they book in with their midwife via their GP surgery.

R Rolling Programme of ActivitiesOur Stay and Play, Creative Crafts, Story Telling, Healthy Lifestyles and Music and Movement activities are run on a rolling programme, meaning that each activity is at one centre for 4 weeks then it moves to a different centre. However, there is always one of the activities mentioned above at one of our centres every week. Room Hire Facilities All of our centres offer room hire facilities at reasonable rates.

S Safety EquipmentWe have low cost safety equipment available to purchase at any of our centres. Please ask at reception. Saturday Drop in for Dad's & Male Carers All dads and male carers are welcome to come along and have fun with your children and take part in activities, crafts and songs. Regular trips are held throughout the year too. Smoking Cessation Held at our Bedlington Centre on Monday, 9.00 am to 1.00 pm. For pregnant ladies wishing to stop smoking, the session is held on Wednesday between 1.00 and 3.00 pm. Stay and Play Come along and have some fun with lots of toys and make new friends. Suitable for children aged 0-4 years. Story Telling Find out how to make story telling more fun for you and your little ones. Suitable for children aged 0-4 years. Story and Song Time This is run in partnership with Northumberland Toy Library delivery story & song time, arts & crafts, songs & musical instruments. The sessions are held at Bedlington Library.

T Tasty TreatsIn partnership with our colleagues in health, Tasty Treats is a weaning course designed to help your baby take their first foods. Booking on this course is necessary. Triple P A scientifically researched family support strategy designed to help parents improve their parenting skills and build positive relationships with their children. Y Young Parents Group / Drop-InFor parents aged 21 and under and children up to 5 years old. Fun activities with the children and opportunities to learn new things, a chance to meet others and socialise. Crèche is provided and there's no need to book, just come along.
